Founded in 1990 by Smt. Protima Gauri, this dance ensemble is regarded as one of the foremost dance groups committed to carrying Indian dance into the 21st century. Every aspect of their dance is crystal clear – be it movement, rhythm, sensuality, stillness, or command of space. Nrityagram’s dancers not only explore creative expansions of tradition but are also able to commission fresh compositions from leading Indian musicians. With a title derived from the sanskrit word Sri, meaning ‘the divine female principle’, Sriyah is a selected programme of works created by the company over the past decade
