“Mandukya Sant Vani” is a confluence of the Mandukya Upanishad and Sant Vani – the poetry of saints across India in Dhrupad style – as a combination of Dhrupad music, theatre and movement. Mandukya Upanishad – one of the principal Upanishads – is the shortest with 12 shlokas that are deceptive in their simplicity. They explain the significance of the syllable A-U-M (OM) and how it connects to the three states of waking, dream and dreamless sleep. This Upanishad also reveals that the nature of the inner reality is the fourth state – Turiya, which underlies all the other three as the witness.
With 27 singers and 4 dancers, Sant Vani covers the poetry of significant saints from diverse religious milieu of our country, presented in 10 different languages in 16 ragas and 10 taals. Lal Ded, Guru Nanak, Kabir, Tukaram, Ramana Maharshi were some of the saints whose poetry was articulately narrated creating a soulfully elevating experience.
